We are expecting a sunny first race of 2021 on Saturday, January 2nd at the City of Nome Snow Dump! The race start for the 8-mile loop will be at 12 pm for the first team, and at two-minute intervals for subsequent teams. The maximum number of dogs allowed on a team is eight, and the minimum number is four.
The Gold Hill race course map is attached. Please review the race rules, also attached (and listed below). The total race Purse will be $300, and the split is listed in the rules.
The starting order for teams will be drawn after teams are checked out by the marshal/judges. If you are planning to participate, please email your dog vaccination records to nomekennelclub@gmail.com or let a board member know that you will bring them to the race.
Spectators will be welcome, but they will need to stay in a personal vehicle as part of our COVID-19 mitigation plan, as approved by the City of Nome and Norton Sound Health Corporation. NKC race support members and mushers/handlers are required to wear a mask in the start/finish area. If you would like to volunteer for trail support or race set up, please let us know.
